Edra: 1987 - 2007

In just twenty years Edra has become the landmark Italian manufacturer of designer furniture. The company had an unconventional start in 1987 with its very first, "I Nuovissimi" collection of items by young designers - ‘first-timers' on the industrial production scene. Edra's in-built capacity for innovation combined with excellence of function and form led to rapid growth on national and international markets.

Thanks to the art direction of Massimo Morozzi, a well-known figure on the radical avant-garde scene, Edra has consolidated its design-oriented approach. Every collection bears the distinctive Edra hallmark that sets it apart from its competitors. Showing an enviable nose for talent, Edra has brought on board artists at the cutting edge of the design world. A multi-cultural approach, receptive to developments in art, fashion and lifestyles has led to a gallery of landmark contemporary design items.

Edra combines advanced technology with traditional craft skills. And ingenious use of a wide palette of colours. Eschewing short-lived fashions, the Company's entrepreneurial spirit has given a new lease of life to Italian design. 2007 marks Edra's twentieth anniversary. New products designed by Inga Sempé, Fernando and Umberto Campana, and Francesco Binfaré are destined to leave their mark. Following on from "Interiors with Edra" published in October 2006, 2007 will see the publication of a small commemorative booklet describing 20 years' of hard work. Rather than a chronological narrative, the book comprises a series of episodes and brief overviews of all those who have worked for the company over the years. Proof of the fact that Edra intents to continue along the path it started down so many years ago.
